2026 March 8 YTD Lake Levels Report
Our Kawagama lake levels chart compares 2026 YTD actual levels to targets. The target levels have been in place for more than 15 years. Beginning Mar 7, mild conditions and heavy rainfall caused a rapid rise to lake levels. MNR have informed us that our snowpack is normal (125 m/m of runoff ). The forecast for freezing conditions to start again March 12th is expected to slow the runoff considerably. Therefore, levels are expected to normalize in the next week or so. Kawaga

Small Vessel Licensing Regulations
Transport Canada has made it effective January 6, 2026 that all boats’ Pleasure Craft Licenses (PCL) now have an expiry date, and a $24 fee applies to new, renewed, transferred, or replaced PLCs. Important note: this is different than the “Pleasure Craft Operator Card” that is issued in your name; this is for your boat(s) and a copy must be carried on board at all times. County of Haliburton Policy Update- Short Term Rental By-law:
As of October 1, 2024, anyone operating a short-term rental (STR) in the Township of Algonquin Highlands and the Municipality of Dysart et al must comply with a new licensing By-law introduced by the County of Haliburton.
