Kawagama Dam Reconstruction

We have confirmed that the Kawagama Lake dam reconstruction started July 11 and will continue through the fall. (the contract complete date is Oct 15, 2022) Bronte Construction has the contract worth $1.8M. The project scope includes stabilizing the dam and lowering the wing wall to MNRF Target operating level. This is a reasonably complex project as a coffer dam needs to be constructed so work can be done on the wing wall.

Lowering of the wing wall is great news for Kawagama as this change should eliminate the spring and early summer high water levels we’ve experienced the last couple of years. This also aids MNRF as surges over the Target level will be gradually released and some dam operations will be eliminated.
