The Township of Algonquin Highlands will be working this year on a construction project to rehabilitate the existing retaining wall at Russell Landing on Kawagama Lake, located at 1518 Russell Landing Road. Work is tentatively planned for September, pending contract and design finalization. Work will focus primarily on the deteriorating wooden retaining wall structure along the parking area. The longevity and required maintenance of the stone retaining wall and adjoining wooden crib wall structure that attaches to the docks will also be assessed. This project is scheduled as part of the Township’s Asset Management Plan.
The Township is seeking input, via a survey, from Kawagama and Bear Lake property owners as they embark on this project. Survey responses will be compiled and presented to Council for their consideration. The information gathered will assist the Township in determining the appropriate outcomes of the project, which are subject to available budget.
The survey is online at: https://letsconnectalgonquinhighlands.ca/russell-landing-retaining-wall-rehabilitation-questionnaire?preview=true&tool=survey_tool#tool_tab Just click on “Take Survey” to get started.
Please note that you must first enroll in “Let’s Connect” to gain electronic access to the survey. After clicking on the “Take Survey” icon you will be asked if you have enrolled in the “Let’s Connect program and if not you are given the opportunity to enroll. This program is an innovative electronic mechanism setup up by Algonquin Highlands Township to collect ideas from residents in the Township. Details on this can be found at https://letsconnectalgonquinhighlands.ca/.
Letters seeking input are being mailed to property owners whom the Township can identify as being likely users of Russell Landing. If you did not receive a letter and wish a paper copy please contact Algonquin Highlands Township at 705.489.2379 and ask to speak to Chad Ingram or Brian Mulholland and they will arrange one.
